What Makes a Rainbow?...

... Is one of the questions parents fear being asked by their children. Spencerblog is not afraid. Spencerblog knows the answer. And it is: "I don't know. Go ask your mother."

The Dessy Group Introduces the Pantone Wedding Chiplette and 2012 Fan Guide

So we all know that I love the Dessy Group and even used their pretty dresses in my wedding. They have great options for bridesmaid dresses, and flower girls and they will all match exactly in color and fabric. Well now the Dessy Group and Pantone (the color system that all of us designers use) are working closely together to create a color reference based on Dessy’s color ways and the Pantone Fashion + Home color system. Stemming from Dessy Group fabrics, each color is measured and matched up to a corresponding Pantone color.

The new Wedding Chiplettes allow the bride-to-be to find the perfect color palette for her dream wedding. Each 4” X 1.75” Pantone Wedding™ Chiplette is a full color card with the Pantone TPX reference number. A QR code is printed on the back of each Chiplette, which can be scanned to return a mobile user to the Dessy.com site. The bride can then share her color choices with the wedding party and distribute them to wedding florists, caterers, bakers and invitation printers.

In addition to the Pantone Wedding™ Chiplette, Dessy has also developed a new Pantone Wedding™ Color Planner for exclusive use with chiplettes. Each planner can accommodate up to six individual chiplettes. The Color Planner has a bride’s checklist and six perforated chiplette holders which are dye cut to contain a chiplette. On the back of each chiplette is a place for the bride to input her contact information serving as a ‘color business card’. Dessy currently offers a complimentary Color Planner with the purchase of every 6 chiplettes.

Awesome right?!

Chip Off the Old Cell Block

Why the Fed Slept

Samuelson explains:
There's a paradox to economic policy. The more it succeeds at prolonging short-term prosperity, the more it inspires long-run destabilizing behavior by businesses, banks, consumers, investors and government. If they think basic stability is assured, they will assume greater risks -- loosen credit standards, borrow more, engage in more speculation, relax wage and price behavior -- that ultimately make the economy less stable. Long booms threaten deep busts...
... The Fed slept mainly because it overlooked the possibility of boom-bust. It didn't recognize that its success at sustaining prosperity -- for which Greenspan was lionized -- might sow the seeds of a larger failure. It bought into an overblown notion of economic "progress."
And there is every chance that politicians and the Fed will fall asleep at the wheel again. Read it all.

Maybe trees are not in bloom yet but I still want to carry spring spirit with me today. Anticipating the start of the warm seasons (and spring trends) I DIY -ed this bag filled with bright colored flowers. It's a jelly bag with a playful feel, in fact I inserted into the back of the bag some loose flowers that move freely as we walk. Basically the pattern of the bag changes continuously! Do you like it? See how I made it and download the freebie I made for you!

Remembering JoePa

[Posted By Jake]

It's been a sad day, made even sadder by pundits and commentators weighing in on Coach Paterno's life with no real understanding of the man. Nate Bauer, the editor of BlueWhiteIllustrated.com does the best job of capturing the essence of JoePa,
We haven't just lost a man, we've lost an ideal.
"Believe deep down in your heart that you're destined to do great things." That was the mantra so many students plastered on the backs of their "White Out" T-shirts a few years ago. Cliched as it may have been, surrounded by a world that betrayed the sentiment at seemingly every turn, the place and spirit of Happy Valley revolved around the concept.
The column is titled Better Selves and it's worth reading http://bwi.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1321633

Update -- the students have appropriately called for a "White Out" today at Penn State. Normally reserved for home football games, it is a heartfelt way to remember a great man.

Joe Paterno R.I.P.

CBS news is reporting again, that Joe Paterno has passed away. So long, Joe
