Vera Wang in NYC with Brides Editor-in-Chief, Millie Martini Bratten

I was invited to hear Vera Wang speak this weekend at Vera's New York City Madison Avenue store hosted by Millie Martini Bratten, Editor-in-Chief of Brides Magazine, and I jumped at the chance! After all I was a Vera Bride!
Vera has also been my idol for so long and was everything I expected her to be and more. Brilliant, brilliant is what she was.

Vera talked about being inspired by the bride and how her wedding dresses are really not just about Vera's vision like her ready-to-wear line is but more about real women and their different body types and different styles. Vera explained how the "women" in the dress is just as important as the dress itself and needs to reflect the bride. After all, it's usually the first time a women gets to host a party plus it's one of the most important parties in her life and it should express her personal style and taste. This should be reflected in the dress selection.

Vera also advises her brides to think about at least "two things before picking out your dress, location, and the time of day." If you are getting married at a beach, you wouldn't want a ball gown but you may want a light airy dress instead. And the same goes with the time of day. A bride may want to choose a less blingy dress if she is getting married at noon rather than in the evening. Things that may seem obvious but are sometimes over looked.

But overall Vera made it clear, it is important to remain true to yourself and your unique sense of style.

This week will be full of Wedding dress lovelies from New York's Bridal market.
Tomorrow stay tuned for the Vera Wang Fall 2011 collection!
