Today, while I was wearing my Valentino inspired pumps, I wondered how many shoes I DIY -ed since I opened this page and above you can see the answer, they look like an entire collection, don't they? I still love each of them and have fun wearing them!

Oggi, mentre indossavo le mie scarpe borchiate ispirate a Valentino tentavo di riepilogare mentalmente tutte le scarpe ho personalizzato da quando ho aperto questa pagina. Quante sono? La risposta è sotto i vostri occhi, non sembrano un'intera collezione? Riguardandole devo dire che le indosso ancora tutte con piacere.

During these last few days I also added a pair of shoes to my collection, a pair of python boots I found on sale at Zara. I mentally quickly reviewed my rules for sales shopping and since python can't be called basic (rule n°3) and definitely I needed them (see how flexible is rule n°1?) I decided to get them!
These Zara boots were in my winter shoepping list and now they sit proudly in my wardrobe along with the diy- ed miu miu glittered pumps.

Negli ultimi giorni sono riuscita ad aggiungere un altro paio di scarpe alla mia collezione: un paio di stivaletti con stampa pitone di Zara. Visto che il pitone non rientra nei capi basic (regola n°3) e avendo un disperato bisogno di animalier nel mio guardaroba (visto com'è flessibile la regola n°1?) gli stivaletti hanno brillantemente superato i requisiti richiesti dalle mie regole per i saldi  e quindi ora fanno bella mostra di sè nel mio armadio.

Glitter boots DIY

In a previous post we talked about how to draw fashion illustrations and I tried to draw my ideal Christmas night outfit planning to make all the three pieces part of that outfit before Christmas. If you have been reading this blog for a while you may have noticed my passion for shoes so I started building my outfit from shoes! This party season is all about shiny sequins and bright glitters and I've been obsessing over the cute Miu Miu glitter boots (now sold out everywhere) with their strange (and a little bit goofy) banana heel so I decided to make an inspired version of them. See how I made them.

Qualche tempo fa ci siamo interrogate su come disegnare i figurini di moda e io ho tentato di disegnare il mio outfit ideale per la sera di Natale programmando di realizzare l'abito e gli accessori in tempo per indossarli. Se leggete questa pagina da un po' avrete notato la mia passione per le scarpe e com'era prevedibile non ho saputo resistere a realizzare loro per prime. Questa stagione prevede un uso smodato di glitter e paillettes e  gli stivaletti di Miu Miu (ora sold out) mi son piaciuti subito con quel loro strano tacco un po' goffo, vediamo quindi come glitterare i nostri stivaletti.

PART 1: LET'S BUILD THE BANANA HEEL
you'll need:
1 cork sheet
glue
duct tape
rasp

Parte prima: Il tacco a banana

Vi servono:

1 foglio di sughero

colla

scotch telato (American tape)

una raspa

there is no banana heel, we have to make it! I used a cork sheet: I cut it in small pieces and I glued them onto the existing heel, it's like a puzzle. The idea is to make the heel bulkier and curved (add pieces on the back and on the front of the heel)

Ho usato un foglio di sughero per costruire il tacco: ho tagliato il foglio in piccoli pezzi e li ho incollati sul tacco. L'idea è quella di renderlo più grande e curvo (per curvarlo aggiungete pezzetti sul retro e sul davanti)

Continue to add pieces until you obtain something like this
Continuate ad aggiungere pezzi fino ad ottenere qualcosa di simile

Wait for the glue to dry, then take a rasp and scratch the surface to make it smooth

Aspettate che la colla sia asciutta, poi prendete una raspa per legno e rendete la superficie liscia

Wrap the heel with duct tape, it will make the heel water resistant and more compact

Avvolgete il tacco con lo scotch telato(American tape), questo lo renderà impermeabile e compatto

PART 2: LET'S GLITTER
you'll need:
gold glitters
glue
sealant 

Parte seconda: Glitteriamo!

vi serviranno:

porporina dorata

colla vinilica

plastificante

brush the boot with glue and puor on the glitters, let the glue dry, then spray the sealant

spennellate la scarpa di colla vinilica  e versateci la porporina, quando sarà tutto asciutto spruzzateci su il plastificante

 this is an unecessary step for you, I covered the mesh part with a piece of canvas and I continued covering all the boot with glitters

 PART 3: LET'S MAKE THE BOW
you'll need:
pink suede 
glue

Parte Terza: Il fiocco 

Vi Serviranno:

stoffa scamosciata rosa (io ho usato una cinta)

colla

fold the suede like this
piegate la stoffa come in figura

 to make the ruffle just pull the thread

per fare la ruche: fate una filza e tirare semplicemente il filo

how the bow will look like 

ecco come appare il fiocco

cut another piece of suede and glue it on the inner side of the shoes (the part facing the other foot)

tagliate un altro pezzo di stoffa e incollatelo sulla parte interna della scarpa (quella a contatto con l'altro piede)

now glue the bow, pour the glue on both sides, wait ten minutes and then press the bow onto the shoes

incollate il fiocco: coprite di colla entrambe le parti da incollare, aspettate 10 minuti e poi premetele insieme

DIY idea: Miu Miu neon shoes

Here's a DIY project you can make in a few minutes.
Miu miu shoes for summer are so fresh and beautiful! They're decorated with neon and metallic leather. Do you want them as much as i do?
Buy some rolls of colored scotch tape (or colored adhesive paper sold at meters in craft shops,it's laminated)and start adding some neon accents to a pair of classic pumps. Stick the tape on the borders or around the heel,you can stick it diagonally and mix different colors (for example you can stick more than one layers of scotch). Use Miu miu pumps for reference or get creative and make your own pair of neon shoes. If you have more than a few minutes buy spray paint in neon colors to decorate your shoes, use paper scotch to protect those areas you don't want to paint and to obtain sharp borders in those areas you want to color and...spray!



Ecco un progetto da ultimare in pochi minuti!
Prada propone per quest'estate delle scarpe decorate da accenti neon e metallici.
Comprate dei rotoli di scotch colorato o della carta adesiva colorata venduta a metro nelle grandi catene di ferramenta tipo Brico (è plastificata) e cominciate ad attaccarla ad un paio di scarpe da decorare.
Ispiratevi alle miu miu oppure attaccate lo scotch colorato come più vi piace(usate rotoli di colore diverso).
Se avete a disposizione più di pochi minuti allora comprate della vernice spray nei colori neon e metallici e usate lo scotch di carta per proteggere le aree che non devono essere decorate e ottenere dei bordi ben definiti nelle aree da dipingere.
